Our wines are elegant, and totally expressive of our terroir. We believe our site produces wines embracing the attributes of Pyrenees Shiraz - great fruit flavour combined with the subtlety and finish of the best Great Western Shiraz. Winemaking commenced with the 2002 harvest.
Our current 2006 vintage was an ideal
growing season producing excellent quality and well balanced
fruit. Made by Michael Unwin the wines were matured in French
Oak barriques for 19 months.
The 2006 Jack’s View shiraz is an elegant, spicy cool climate
wine, displaying rich characteristic cherry plum flavours.
Affectionately referred to as the wild
child, the sangiovese vines have flourished at Shays Flat. The
2006 Wild Child sangiovese has characteristic varietal earthy
plum flavours enhanced by the terroir influence of cherry and
pepper spice.
Cabernet Sauvignon is well suited to the
Pyrenees terroir. It is low yielding developing smooth intense
varietal flavours and magnificent colour. The 2006 Shays Flat
cabernet sauvignon is a generous full-bodied wine which will
age well.
The 2006 merlot is a medium bodied smooth
cool climate wine, displaying rich characteristic redcurrant
fruit flavours.
Our winemaker, Michael Unwin, has experience in winemaking extending across 16 years and several countries including France, New Zealand and Australia.
